New SEO Rules: Content That People Share

Many years ago, moving up in the search ladder is relatively easy and online marketing is a breeze. Now it's a different story, many seo companies build their seo services based from the idea of fear. Many small business owners fear that their website will get hit by the new google updates (Fear marketing oh no!).

That is where Content Marketing was born, out of fear. It is the new trend which I find really good and will actually benefit the internet users.

There's also a difference with Content Marketing in 2002 compared to the content that is being syndicated now, Google's algorithm and the internet users are constantly changing.

Let's compare the two: (Please see illustrations below)

If you will notice the many of the content publishers today leverage on quality content that provides value to their target audience and the end result will be their content is more likely to be shared in social media thus giving them more exposure becaus of the viral components of those popular social networking sites such as facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Pinterest etc...

Based on the data coming from our bloggers and publishers they are seeing a good amount of social traffic that even exceeds that from search engines. But still Google gets 100 billion searches every month, so it is not wise to ignore search entirely. (Reference: Search Engine Watch)

So, how will you go about being search engine friendly while maintaining social media best practices?

CEO of SEOMoz, Rand Fishkin talks about those in his blog, the five best practices for content marketers.

Maximising Organic Search Value in an ethical way?

1. Do a keyword research first before getting your feet wet in creating content, so you can avoid wasting your time writing about things that does not appeal to your audience.

2. Create content for your target audience, remember content is king.

3. Your content should be in a same domain (e.g. do not host it on blog.yoursite.com)

4. Make your content interesting, try to read other blogs first from there tyou will have a feel of what your target audience is keen on.

5. Stick to your brand, seperating your brand from your content is not a good idea, since you are building your authority.

In addition to that, you might want to invite authorities in your niche and publishers to guest post in your website to diversify your content and boost social signals, for sure they'll be sharing their content in their social accounts.

Lastly, let me know what you think and share your ideas here

Domain Name Registration: What You Should Consider before Using New TLDs

If there's one thing you mustn't forget when setting up a website, it has got to be domain name registration. The name of your domain or website is one of the most vital ingredients of a successful online marketing campaign. After all, it is one of the things that will help customers distinguish your site from the competition. It is also what gives your business a unique online identity.

domain name registration

Several months ago, the online community has been all agog with the introduction of new suffixes for Internet domains or TLDs. For a generation that has been familiar with a domain name that ends in .com, .net, or .org, seeing something that ends in .bike or .hotel is indeed a novelty. But if you're thinking of adopting these new TLDs for your website to make it more unique, then you might want to consider a number of things before you do.

First and foremost, you have to consider costs. Existing domains like .com and .org are relatively cheaper than the new TLDs. In addition, signing up for domain name registration when using the old TLDs is usually quicker and more cost-effective. Unless you have lots of money to spare, you might want to wait a bit until the initial hype about the new TLDs dies down because inflated domain prices are expected to go down during that time.

Besides costs, you should also consider your customers. As mentioned earlier, most people have grown used to the old domain names. And because they are more familiar with it, they are bound to trust it more. In fact, a recent study has shown that consumers are in fact more wary of a domain name featuring one of the new suffixes. As such, if you're considering using the new TLDs, make sure you plan it thoroughly and develop a clear program to avoid losing your customers' trust.

Of course, you should also consider the name of your domain.  When it comes to domain name registration, choosing a name that is relevant to your business is a must. As such, whether you want to use the old suffix or the new, catchy TLDs, make sure you choose the most appropriate name before registering. And to enhance visibility and avoid confusion among your customers, try including relevant keywords in your domain.

As mentioned earlier, domain name registration is vital to the success of your website and your overall online marketing campaign. As such, if you're planning to use the new suffixes, make sure you conduct some prior research to ensure that it will add value to your business. Also, don't forget to enlist the services of domain registration experts for maximum convenience and bigger chance of success.

The Importance of a Professional Website for Small Businesses

As a small business, it’s quite tempting to grab a free template to put up your website within minutes. After all, you get everything free, and can do that yourself! But the biggest problem with relying on a free template and not choosing professional website development is that your website will look like everyone else's ─ which means you won’t be able to differentiate yourself from the competition.

In order to have a robust web presence that properly showcases your small business, you need custom web design Melbourne service. Before you balk at the cost, think about this: with a poorly designed site you will lose lot of money in terms of lost sales. Though you will receive lots of prospects, if your website is not professional, most of them will dismiss you as a fly-by-night company and move away.

Let’s have a close look at getting your ecommerce website design developed by a professional:

Lead Generation

With free online templates, you won’t be able to devise ways to capture leads, like with a contact form, sign-up, or an email newsletter. Using web design Melbourne service means you can have your own customized way to capture and then generate leads so that your site will now result in more prospects.

Much Better Marketing and Advertising

With a professional ecommerce website design, your website will act as a first point of contact with your prospects. Today millions of prospective buyers are searching online, and with a custom website development, you cannot only have a robust web presence, but can really showcase your business in a powerful way. You can also rank high on the search engines for your niche keywords. This means more online visibility, more sales and more profits!

Broader Base of Clientele

If you think your website is only a Yellow Pages type advertisement for you, think again. A live ecommerce website design can showcase specials and can also be updated to reflect anything new that your business is going through. You can upload discount offers, coupons, new arrivals and new packages. Your web design Melbourne service will build a website that can be updated easily on a regular basis. They will add your niche keywords in the content to help it rank high on Google and other search engines.

Beat Your Competition

You can use your website as a perfect marketing tool for leveraging your strengths against your competitors, and differentiating your services or products from others, creating positive impression and building your brand image. Best of all, you can do all this right within your small marketing budget.

A Mobile Presence

A professional website design company can also build your mobile presence. Today millions of people surf the Internet using their mobile devices, such as iPhones, iPads, and tablets, and a mobile website of your business means more online exposure and more sales leading to more profits. A professional website design company will also integrate social media websites into your website extending its reach and online visibility. This will also help in SEO (search engine optimization), thus increasing online visibility.

A Mobile App

Going further with custom website development, you can also get apps designed for your business. This is one of the best value additions. For instance, if you have an online shoe store, you can have an app that helps your prospective customer choose the right shoe for their foot, and then check whether that is available in your store!

In this new web frontier, it’s best to ditch those free templates and get a custom-built website. Your bottom line will definitely thank you.

4 Important Key Points when Evaluating Domain Name Registration

Domain name registration can be very important. Put aside the legalities of whether or not you are entitled to a name. When getting a business off the ground it can be a challenge to get all the planets aligned. Register a business name, trademark, and related domain names all at the same time. Easier said than done.

In fact Nexus Digital Marketing had several iterations of names before landing with Nexus. This was for the very complications mentioned above. Some business names were fine, but the domains were not. Some domains were available, with business name, but a trademark had been registered so foiled again. But eventually we got there, and since we have seen a few businesses struggle with the same thing we decided it would be a good topic to write about. Might shed some light on this for new unsuspecting business owners.

Without going into the motivations of a name you might select for your business there are some factors to consider.

• Is it memorable
• Is it unique
• Does it mean something to you
• Does it relate to what you do

If you said yes to all of the above, you’re on the right track. One other less quantifiable aspect to consider is the logo. Can you envisage the logo, the lettering. Can you picture what it would look like behind a front desk or on a shirt? If your answer is yes, then you are on the money.
Now the hard part is to have more than one idea if possible. You can almost guarantee that the first name you come up with that ticks all the boxes is already being used. So think of a few. Five or more would be good.

If your domain registration is an important part of evaluating possible names, the fastest way to check this is to type it straight into a search engine and see if it’s registered. Dot com registrations may not pose a big problem, but you definitely want to snag the .com.au TLD.
To get to the point. Once we have got a set of possible ideas, that we know good relevant domain names are available we then go to work checking business registrations and trademarks. This is vital, and we do it all at once.

1st check business name:

2nd Search the trademark database making sure you understand your category:

3rd Check that your domain name is in fact still available. If it is; register it:

Once you have secured your domain name, go back and register the business name and then trademark. Then all you have to worry about are social media accounts, but that is a topic for another day. Hopefully this has been helpful in understanding the registration trials and tribulations of a new business, and how to get it done.

Facebook Set to Axe Sponsored Stories; Brands Urged to Use Other Digital Strategy

If you mainly rely on sponsored stories on Facebook to attract new customers or advertise your brand, you might want to come up with a new digital strategy soon. According to a recent blog post by Facebook, the social networking website is set to put Sponsored Story ads on the chopping block on April 9. This basically means that users can no longer use this type of advertisement to promote their products and services on the social networking site when that day arrives.

According to Facebook, the social context element of Sponsored Story ads will become commonplace in all of Facebook's advertisements in April. As such, instead of seeing a sponsored story highlighting a page Like, a user will simply see a Page Like ad on his or her newsfeed. So keeping this in mind, it is now the time to be more creative and to think of other online marketing solutions in case you are previously into using sponsored story ads.

According to many marketing experts, there is no single digital strategy that guarantees marketing success online. Successfully tapping into the psyche of both your existing customers and target market and getting them to like what you have to offer require a mix of tried and tested marketing tactics and strategies.

There are many online marketing solutions that you can capitalise on if you want to establish a more solid online presence. For starters, you can enlist the services of an online marketing company that can help you become more visible on the Internet. By seeking professional assistance, you can come up with better and more effective campaigns that allow you to gain more friends and followers not just on Facebook, but on other social media platforms, as well.

Of course, you cannot simply focus on social media when it is considered just a small piece of the pie. You also have to take advantage of other effective digital strategy like search engine optimisation or SEO. By making your brand, website, or business search engine-friendly, it will be much easier for your target customers to find you and learn more about you and your products or services.

And finally, it isn't always a great idea to bombard your target market with advertisements and self-promoting content all the time. You also have to offer them something useful, like informative and educational articles, videos, and other forms of online content that are relevant to your business. When used properly and combined with other marketing tactics, this digital strategy can help you nail results that are significantly better than the ones you get when using Facebook Sponsored Story ads alone. So, take a step and update yourself on digital marketing strategy now.
